Fibrocystic Breast
– a benign tumor of the breast
– usuallya soft cyst, tender and freely movable.

Diagnosis
– diagnosed by mammogram and ultrasound.
BSE (breat self examination)
– should be performed at monthly intervals, prefereably 1 week fter menses.
– For postmenopausal women should be done on the same dy each month.

Signs and Symptoms
– Dimpling in the breast
– Nipple retraction
– Peau d’ orange (orange peel appearance)

Treatments:

Surgery

  • Breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy),

– removal of only the tumor and a small amount of surrounding tissue.

  • mastectomy, and lymph node dissection
