DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT:
♠ Barium Swallow (Upper GI)
- Barium contrast is used
- NPO prior of procedure
- Administer laxative (post) as prescribed
– Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
- VISUALIZATION OF THE UPPER G.I. BY ENDOSCOPE.
Fecal occult blood
- Advise patient prior procedure to avoid iron and read meat.
GERD/ GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE
Chron’s Disease:
- Crampy abdominal pain
- Diarrhea is not bloody
- Weight Loss
- Fatigue and fever
Ulcerative Colitis:
- Abdominal Pain
- Bloody Diarrhea w/ mucus
Diverticulitis:
- Elevated WBC
- Fever and pain
GALLBLADDER DISEASE:
CHOLECYSTITIS & CHOLELITHIASIS
