Eating Disorders

Anorexia Nervosa
The person has a very intense fear of becoming obese.
Usually occurs more often in females compared to males.

Bulimia Nervosa
The person has a recurrent episodes of binge eating.
Russel’s Sign- there can bruises and and calluses in the thumb or hand, this can be caused by trauma or from self induced vomiting.
There can also be several erosion from the person tooth enamel due to the vomiting
The person is usually moody and depressed

– This person would usually have dental complications
– There would be electrolyte abnormalities (hypokalemia)
– There would be some gastric problems such as ulcers
