Drug Use
Here are some of the most common abused substances that can be included in the NCLEX:
- Opiates (Opiates, Heroin, Morphine)
- Sedative Hypnotics ( Barbituates & Benzodiazepines)
- Stimulants ( Cocaine)
Opiates
– usually has analgesic effects
Withdrawal Symptoms:
- Nausea & vomiting
- headaches
- GI disturbances
- anorexia
- chills
Treatment:
- Narcan (reverses the CNS depression)
Sedative Hypnotics
- Are CNS depressants
- Signs of Overdose includes:
- cardiovascular
- respiratory depression.
- Treatment: Acvtivated Charcoal, Gastric Lavage
