Re-review the Repiratory System- 45 mins.
We have learned from Nursing School that the Respiratory System is necessary for our physiological survival. As a living organism, our cells require a supply of O2 and excrete respiratory waste through CO2 expiration, which are the main goals of Respiratory System. This system is also important in maintaining the acid-base balance in our body. It is important to understand the vaious disease that comprises the respiratory system.
– The lungs are located inside in the upper chest protected by the ribcage.
– The outside of the lungs are covered by the pleura,
– The trachea leads down to the thoracic cavity right and left “main stem” bronchi)
– The right lung is composed of three lobes: the upper lobe, the middle lobe and the lower lobe.
– The left lung is made up of only two lobes: the upper lobe and the lower lobe.
– Each segment of the lung contains a network of air tubes, air sacs and blood vessels.
– These sacs allow for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the blood and air.
The Organs involved in the Respiratory System:
The nose, larynx, pharynx and trachea leads to the Lungs.
Within the lungs, it is consists of the bronchi, bronchioles and the alveolars.
