Electrolyte Values
Potassium
– Hypokalemia
- Would show inversion of the T wave
- Appearance of a U wave
- ST depression
– causes ventricular dysrhytmmias
– Increase risk of digoxin toxicity.
– Hyperkalemia
- Tall peaked T wave
Sodium
– Hyponatremia
- Usually serum sodium decrease caused by use of diuretics
– Hypernatremia
Calcium
Hypocalcemia
- Can cause ventricular dysrhytmias
- Prolonged ST and QT intervals
