– Depresses the body’s motor activity and and alters cerebral function

Used for:

• Seizures
• Convulsive episodes

Side Effects/ Adverse Reactions

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Hypotension
• Respiratory Depression

Contraindicates with:

• Pregnancy
• Addiction to sedative or hypnotics

– No alcohol use (tell patients)
