Leukemia

  • Leukemia refers to a group of malignant conditions that involve with the overproduction of WBC’s in the bone marrow
  • There are diff. types of leukemia and the types of leukemia are classified by the specific pathway from which the abnormal cells develop and whether the condition of the patient is either acute or chronic.

    1. Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)

  • AML is usually disease that occur in older adults.
  • Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML)
  • CML occurs in adults over 50 yrs. old
  • Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL)
  • Is usually more common in children

  • Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL)
  • CLL is more prevalent occurs more in older than 50, white population
