ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease
Amyotophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
ALS is also commonly called Lou Gehrig’s disease and is a pregoressive, degenerative disorder that involves both the upper and lower motor neurons. There is no change in the mental status or sensory function with the disease. The disease does result in paralysis of the motor system, except the eyes.
REMEMBER:
- CVA client should be upright in bed (90 deg) or seated upright with head and chin slightly forward while eating.
