RENAL CELL CARCINOMA

– A cancer that originates in the kidneys.
– Children will develop a kind of kidney cancer called Wilms’ tumor.

– Pink, red or cola colored urine

Risks
– Sex: Male
– Smoking
– Obesity
– Hypertension

Tests and procedures:
– Urineanalysis
– computerized tomography (CT)
– magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
– Kidney Biopsy (main diagnostic tests)

Treatments:
Surgery
– Removing the affected kidney (nephrectomy)

Chemotherapy

Blocking blood flow to the tumor (embolization).
Treatment to freeze cancer cells (cryoablation).
Biological therapy (immunotherapy) uses your body’s immune system to fight cancer.
